Your spouse says “don’t worry about the child support for the next 5 months because Jr. is going to stay with grandma.” Unless the agreement is reduced to writing and a judge signs an order modifying the previous order, you are not relieved from following the previous order of the court. Otherwise, do whatever the court orders you to do and do it until the court orders you to do something different.
