📢 Bankruptcy Court Filing Fees Increase on 12/1/2020 📢
On December 1, 2020, the Bankruptcy Court filing fees will increase for those looking to file for bankruptcy protection. The new fee structure was mandated by the United States Bankruptcy Court and will apply to all states in the US. According to court documents, the fee increases range from $75 to $550 depending on the type of bankruptcy filing being made.
The new fees are set at a flat rate regardless of any assets or liabilities associated with a given individual’s case. For example, Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing fees will increase from $335 to $550; Chapter 11 increased from $1,717 to $2,050; and Chapter 13 increased from $310 to $385. The court has also created an online payment system which allows individuals and corporate entities alike to pay their filing fees electronically using secure payment methods such as PayPal or credit cards.
