"How Do I Know When My Chapter 13 Is Over"

Navigating the bankruptcy process can be a difficult and tedious journey. Chapter 13 bankruptcy is one of the most common types of bankruptcy, and it can be beneficial for those trying to pay off their debt. So, how do you know when your chapter 13 is over?

The length of a Chapter 13 plan depends on several factors, such as income and assets. Generally speaking, plans must last at least three years but may extend up to five years. When all payments have been made according to the plan and any other obligations of the debtor have been met, the debtor’s Chapter 13 case will end with discharge from remaining debts. After discharge has been granted by the court, creditors are no longer allowed to collect debts included in the plan; however they still can collect past due obligations that were not part of the chapter 13 payment plan agreement.
