What Are Mini Miranda Rights?
Mini Miranda Rights are a simplified version of the full Miranda Rights, which must be read to any suspect in police custody before questioning. They are intended to inform suspects of their rights under the Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which states that no one may be compelled to testify against themselves or face self-incrimination. Mini Miranda Rights can also provide information about an individual's right to remain silent and not answer questions from police officers as well as their right to contact an attorney for legal advice. The phrase "Miranda warning" is derived from a 1966 Supreme Court decision, Miranda v Arizona, which established these constitutional rights during criminal investigations and interrogations.
