Will someone show up in court against me?
If you're facing a criminal charge, the answer to this question is likely "yes." The court will almost always require the defendant to appear in person for their arraignment, which is the first formal court appearance in a criminal case. After that, the defendant may be required to appear for other hearings throughout the course of the case, up until and including the trial. In some limited circumstances, a defendant may be able to waive their right to appear in court, but this is generally not allowed unless there are extenuating circumstances.
