"How Many Times Can You File Bankruptcy"

The answer to the question of how many times you can file bankruptcy is not as simple as a straight answer. The number of times you can file for bankruptcy protection depends on a variety of factors, including what type of bankruptcy you filed for, whether you received a discharge in your previous case, and whether you paid certain debts in full.

Here are some general guidelines on how many times you can file for bankruptcy:

If you filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and received a discharge, you can usually only file again after 8 years.

If you filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy and successfully completed your repayment plan, you may be able to file again after 4 years.

There is no limit to the number of times you can file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
