When filing for Chapter 13 Bankruptcy, the process can be long and arduous. It is important to know when you are no longer in debt so that you can begin rebuilding your credit. Knowing when your Chapter 13 is over will help you gauge what steps to take next in order to start fresh.

The length of a Chapter 13 payment plan varies depending on an individual's specific case, but typically lasts three or five years. During this time, debtors make regular payments based on their income and disposable income (what’s left after paying creditors). When all payments have been made according to the plan, the court will issue a discharge order which states that all debts from the filing have been paid off and discharged. This is how one knows when their Chapter 13 has ended; once they receive this discharge order from the court.

The Law Offices of Omar Zambrano has helped thousands of people and businesses in the past to get out of debt and start over.
