When filing for bankruptcy, one of the final steps in the process is attending a 341 Meeting of Creditors. This meeting, which is also referred to as a “341 hearing” or “creditor’s meeting”, is an opportunity for the consumer and their creditors to meet with a court-appointed trustee. The purpose of this meeting is to review certain documents related to the consumer’s financial situation and provide all parties with an opportunity to speak and ask questions.
At your 341 Meeting of Creditors, you will be sworn in by the trustee and have your identity verified. You will then be asked various questions about your financial circumstances by either the trustee or creditors present at the hearing. Be sure to bring any paperwork that has been requested by your bankruptcy attorney as well as photo identification so that everything can be verified if needed.
