"Can I File A Chapter 7 Before 8 Years"

When dealing with overwhelming debt, filing a bankruptcy can be an attractive option. However, there is often confusion surrounding when individuals are eligible to file for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy after having previously filed another type of bankruptcy. One of the most common questions is: Can I file a Chapter 7 before 8 years?

The answer to this question is yes, it is possible to file for a Chapter 7 before 8 years has lapsed since your last bankruptcy filing - but only under certain circumstances. In order to do so you must meet certain criteria, such as passing the means test and showing that you have made efforts at repaying your debts or resolving them in some other way. Additionally, if you have received a discharge from a previous chapter 7 bankruptcy within the past four years, then you will not be eligible to file again until 8 years have passed.
