Ohio Vehicle Repossession Laws

If your vehicle is repossessed in Ohio, the creditor must send you a notice within five days of the repossession. The notice must include the date of the repossession, the amount you owe, and how to get your vehicle back. If you want to keep your vehicle, you must pay the entire amount owed, plus any reasonable expenses incurred by the creditor, within ten days of the date of the notice.

If you do not pay within ten days, or if you cannot reach an agreement with the creditor on a payment plan, then your vehicle will be sold at auction. You will be responsible for any deficiency (the amount still owed on your loan after the sale) as well as any reasonable expenses incurred by the creditor in connection with the sale.
