Work Ethic: Musk Says Twitter Will Become Extremely Hardcore
In a move that's sure to send shockwaves through the Twitterverse, CEO Elon Musk has given his employees an ultimatum:
By 5pm ET November 17th 2022, they can choose to keep working at Twitter for long hours at high intensity, or give up their job and collect three months’ severance.
Musk is known for his demanding work ethic, & it seems he expects nothing less from his employees.
It's unclear how many employees will take Musk up on his offer, but one thing is certain: there's never a dull moment at Twitter.
As the economy enters what some are calling a "tech winter", many tech companies are feeling the effects and are forced to layoff employees.
This week, the following tech companies announced layoffs:
Tech Layoffs
Meta - 11k (13%)
Twitter - 3.7k (50%)
Intel - 20%
Snap - 20%
Netflix - 450
Robinhood - 30%
Stripe, Lyft - 13%
Salesforce - 2k
Amazon - 10k
120k+ layoffs. The 2000-01 Dot-com layoffs were 107k people.
The 2022 layoffs have just begun. A brutally cold tech winter is coming.
Many industries will be affected, & unemployment will rise sharply.
While it's still too early to know exactly how bad this recession will be, it's clear that it will have a major impact on the lives of millions of people around the world.
If you have lost your job, you may be feeling lost, scared, and alone.
